Inspired by working for an important cause

Ville Verronen, a new legal adviser at Kopiosto, explains how he got interested in copyright matters during his studies.

Hi! My name is Ville Verronen, and I have just started in my post as a legal adviser at Kopiosto. My tasks include legal investigations, preparing statements and providing guidance on copyright matters.

I completed my Master of Laws degree at the University of Lapland in autumn 2020. I found an interest in intellectual property rights even before my studies, but my interest in copyright, in particular, deepened when I wrote my bachelor’s thesis on copyright issues. I also became interested in the phenomena of piracy and trademark piracy during notary work to protect the design of commercial art. I also have some previous experience in copyright law.

During my first weeks at Kopiosto, I have been delighted by the diversity of my tasks and being able to work for something that I find important. I am looking forward to the challenges my work at Kopiosto will present me with.

In my free time I like to run and dabble with cars. I also spend a lot of time with my dog Max, who often goes wherever I go. Max will probably start as a part-time office dog at Kopiosto later on.
