Taxation of copyright remuneration
Copyright remuneration are liable to taxation. Accepted tax cards include tax cards for secondary employment, freelancers, remuneration for usage as well as withholding tax reports.
Before a remuneration is paid to you for the first time, you must provide us with a copy of your tax card for secondary employment, freelancer tax card or tax card for remuneration for usage by email or mail. We will receive most authors’ withholding tax rates directly from the tax administration after this. Pensioners and minors must submit their tax cards every year.
Report any changes in your taxation details by submitting an updated tax card to us. If we are unaware of your withholding tax rate, the default rate of 60 % is applied. We cannot make any adjustments to the withholding tax afterwards.
If you are a permanent resident of a foreign country under restricted tax liability, you must submit a withholding tax report to us. In the event that your restricted tax liability ends, you must submit a valid tax card for secondary employment, freelancer tax card or tax card for remuneration for usage to us. The withholding tax report can be found in the section “Forms” at the bottom of the page.
You can check your valid taxation rate at the audiovisual authors’ extranet service. The tax administration does not require a separate notice of paid copyright remuneration.
