The Mediarata grant is open for applications 1 October–7 December 2020

We distribute the Mediarata grant to projects that promote the production culture of media art. The Ministry of Education and Culture has allocated 200,000 euros of separate funding for the grant.

The Mediarata grant is a pilot grant that has now been distributed three times. The pilot has been awarded a year of continuation.

You can apply for Mediarata until 16:00 on 7 December 2020, via AVEK’s online application system. You can find more detailed application instructions and criteria under ‘Mediarata’ in the instructions for media art grants.

The Mediarata grant aims to improve the operating conditions of the production companies and producers working on media art, support the continuity of the operations and raise the level of Finnish media art. The goal is also to facilitate international co-productions of media art and promote professional and international distribution of media art.

In the application rounds in 2017–2019, the grant has been awarded to a total of 12 companies producing media art. The grant decisions highlight the companies’ strong commitment to developing the production of media art, ambitious artistic content, the diversity and interactions of media art, and international dimensions. Several media artists are involved in all projects for developing the production culture of media art that have received the grant.
